We see a lot of infants and children in our office. Usually, parents are bringing their infants in when they’re really stressed out, they’re colicky, they’re not sleeping well, their behavior is just uncontrollable. The parents are getting beat up. They don’t feel like they’re sleeping. And so, when you have a baby that’s pretty much in sympathetic overdrive with colicky and digestive issues, those are the ones that we can have the most profound effect because those are signs and symptoms right out the gate that the baby’s nerve system isn’t working properly.
When we think about every stage of growth, development, and operating the body, all of that is controlled under the nerve system. Now, that nerve system, in a chiropractor’s eyes, is always the master system because it controls everything else. It controls growth and it controls development. All the information, all the blueprints for that baby to grow into a healthy, beautiful adult are stored in the innate intelligence of that baby. The inborn wisdom that takes that baby from two cells, a sperm and an egg, and 280 to 290 days later, we get this beautiful little baby.
Every stage of growth and development is neuro-regulated. So if a child is born with a difficult birth, the mom was pushing for long periods of time, or the baby was in aberrant position in utero, or they do a C-section and they pull the baby out, those factors can actually create misalignments in the spine. That irritates the delicate spinal nerves that are communicating all that beautiful intelligence from the baby’s brain to the rest of the body. And if those messages aren’t clear, it’s hard to execute those orders.
It’s just like if I call someone and I say, “Hey, I want you to come in the office at eight,” and they think I said, “I’m running late”, and they show up at nine, we miscommunicated and there’s a breakdown in our communication and a breakdown in our office. But when that happens in the body, we call that life expression interference. Anything that chokes off or irritates those nerves doesn’t allow full proper development with relative ease. Because of the execution of the orders of the brain and all the growth and development, it should happen without interference. And as long as there is free flow of the nerve system, and the messaging is clear, the body executes the orders, and the baby grows and develops as it should.
It’s only when there’s interference in that communication that the body will start to make mistakes. We’ll see breakdown, we’ll see slower development, we’ll see issues such as digestive issues, colicky, poor excretion, diarrhea, and improper bowel movements. All these different things can relate back to the nerve system since the nerve system is the master system.
It’s so important to make sure that babies have a clear nerve system, so every stage of growth and development goes without interference, and they can express their full potential. We can make sure they have their best day every day.
