The #1 Reason for an Infant Chiropractic Checkup

When we check someone’s spine, it is to make sure that it is properly aligned. For when the spine is properly aligned, it enhances proper nerve flow.

Things such as stress, tension, poor posture, accidents, and falls can create misalignments (which we call subluxations) that put pressure on the delicate spinal nerves and can negatively impact the way an infant’s nerve system functions.

It can actually cause pain or problems later on as an adult if these misalignments aren’t corrected early. The important reason for an infant to get checked is to make sure that the spine is aligned and that there is no irritation to the nerve system.

Now for infants and children, a common cause for misalignments is very often the birth process, in and of itself. A doctor may have to pull the baby by the neck or sometimes twist the neck to turn the shoulders to make sure the baby can come out and that can put pressure on the delicate spinal nerves in the neck and cause subluxations, right from the get-go.

Learning to walk, is part of a child’s development. How many times a day does a toddler fall? Ten, twenty, thirty times a day. Every time they fall, they tumble to the ground and that can cause a misalignment in the spine, which can put pressure on the delicate spinal nerves.

As children get older, they get involved in sports and physical activities. They may roughhouse with their brothers and sisters. There are many kids who crash their bicycles every year. There are sports injuries playing high school football, soccer and many other things.

In all stages of growth and development, the nerve system is controlling that.  So it’s very important to get a spine checked from the womb to the tomb. From the moment you’re born, your nerve system is going to be running and controlling and coordinating everything that your body does. For that coordination to go smoothly, there can’t be any interference in the nerve system.

The reason to check an infant is to make sure that they have good spinal alignment so the spine stays straight and it heals strong. Most importantly, it is to make sure that there is no interference to the nerve impulses that control and coordinate every stage of growth and development and healing.

Chiropractic is important in every stage of life, in every stage of growth and development regardless if an infant or 99 years old. There is always benefit from clearing pressure off the nervous system and restoring normal function.
