What Everyone Should Know About Sciatica

The one thing people need to know about sciatica is what contributes to it and what causes it. Typically, stress, tension, poor posture will affect the alignment of a spine. When the lower part of the spine gets misaligned, it puts uneven pressure on the disc. Then the disc can start to herniate and swell up and then that will actually cause sciatica. Maintaining good alignment is important, because sometimes when the bones misalign enough, they will put pressure on and irritate the sciatic nerve and cause sciatica.

One thing I want people to keep in mind is that sciatica can be reoccurring. Chiropractic is the most effective conservative care option that people with lower back pain and sciatica have. Drugs and surgery, those options will always be there if you can’t beat the condition naturally, but I always recommend starting off with the most conservative form of care and then move on to the more invasive procedures later. There are no real side effects to chiropractic adjustments, but once a surgeon makes her cut, you can’t go back the other way. Chiropractic is a natural option. It is always better to try first, and we help a lot of people with those conditions.

If you can get help with a chiropractor or a physical therapist or anything before you consider drugs and surgery, that is going to be your best bet because the body has an amazing capability to heal. As long as your nerve system is functioning properly, your body will continue to heal and grow, but when there’s a lot of pressure on the nerve system, the body has like static in the lines. It limits the communication. It can slow down the healing process. Chiropractic will keep the pressure off the nerves and it will also enhance the body’s overall ability to heal, and that’s what it’s all about.
